Anna Jones

MBACP Psychotherapeutic Counsellor

You’re welcome here, just as you are; with whatever you’re going through. I offer short-term Counselling and longer-term Therapy in Hertford SG14 and SG13.

Why I Offer Counselling

At the heart of therapy is the relationship: feeling heard, understood, and accepted without judgement. I believe this connection is what allows real change to happen. My aim is to offer a calm, supportive space where you can share your story at your own pace and feel truly listened to whether this is for anxiety, low self-esteem or something else.

I’m a Level 7 trained Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, offering talking therapy (and creative therapy) for adults who may be struggling, feeling stuck, or simply wanting to understand themselves more deeply. I’m particularly interested in how our past experiences, especially in earlier life, can shape how we feel, relate, and cope in the present. Together, we can gently explore these patterns, making sense of your experiences in a way that feels safe and manageable.

Above all, I see therapy as a collaborative process; one where your experiences are respected, your feelings are validated, and you’re supported in finding a way forward that feels right for you.

If you’d like to explore whether therapy feels right for you, you’re welcome to get in touch by phone or email to arrange a free 20-minute call or to book your first session.

My Therapeutic Approach

...when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change

Getting to know me

My approach is integrative and psychotherapeutic, meaning I draw on a range of models, including attachment theory, transactional analysis, and internal family systems, to tailor the work to you as an individual.

I offer a calm, compassionate and confidential space where you can speak openly, feel heard, and explore your inner world at your own pace. Sessions take place in my private garden room, designed to feel peaceful, contained and separate from the outside world, helping you settle and focus on what matters most. Alternatively, I offer sessions from an office space in Hertford.

Alongside traditional talking therapy, I can incorporate creative approaches such as imagery, metaphor or gentle art-based exploration when words feel harder to find; always guided by what feels most comfortable for you.

I hold a Level 7 Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling using the Arts and an Advanced Diploma in the Therapeutic and Educational Application of the Arts.

I am a registered member of a professional counselling body (BACP), work within its ethical framework, am fully insured, and remain committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice so that my work stays thoughtful, ethical and responsive.

The Option of Creative Counselling

Sometimes the hands know how to solve a problem that the mind has yet to understand

- Carl Jung

Creative Approaches

Sometimes words don’t fully capture what’s going on beneath the surface.

Where it feels helpful, I may invite in creative elements, such as imagery or simple visual expression, to open up different ways of understanding your experience.

This can bring unexpected insight and clarity.

There’s no pressure to work this way. It’s simply something we can explore together, if and when it feels right for you.
